Rare colorful murrine mosaic vase by Fratelli Toso in a "Tiffany Window" type pattern created using multicolor murrines cut and fused together into a cylindrical form. Hand crafted on the venetian island of Murano, Italy, the colorful murrines along with the simplistic, almost minimalistic, shape of this murano glass vase perfectly blend the traditional with the new.
Fratelli Toso is a historic Murano glassworks, founded in 1854 by six brothers, known for its long history of producing both functional and artistic glassware. They are particularly recognized for their expertise in murrine and millefiori techniques. The company has seen various periods of success and innovation, including collaborations with prominent artists and designers.
Ermanno Toso became artistic director in 1936, reinterpreting Murano glass techniques in his own style, with notable acclaim after WWII.
