About the Item

An expressive organic-form Murano glass vase, crafted in Italy during the late 1980s. This small sculptural piece departs from the traditional sparkle and symmetry of Venetian glass, favouring a more earth-toned, textural aesthetic. The vase features a marbled blend of black and brown glass, with luminous speckles of molten orange scattered throughout the surface—an effect reminiscent of volcanic stone or oxidised metal. The form is distinctly freeform: rising from a rounded base, the vessel opens into a ruffled lip and undulating profile that evokes a droplet captured mid-motion. The piece was designed by Sandro Frattin for his TFZ (Vetreria Artistica TFZ) furnace on Murano — a name known for pushing the expressive boundaries of postmodern Murano glassmaking. Measuring approximately 16 cm high by 12 cm wide, this vintage Murano glass vase retains its original TFZ sticker and is in very good condition. A tactile and subtly dramatic accent, ideal for modernist or brutalist interiors, and for collectors of studio glass or unusual Italian decorative objects.
