About the Item
A very stylish French attributed Art Deco pottery vase modelled as a fish and dating from around 1930. The earthenware vase formed as a swimming tropical fish is mounted raised on a shaped rock work base with relief molded acquatic plants. The fish forms the body of the vase is of large rounded hollowed out shape with fins and molded facial features. The raised dorsal fin forms the top opening and the vase is finely decorated in streaked and mottled matted green and contrasting bright lustre glazes. The vase is indistinctly signed to the base and appears to have a molded number 777.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In good condition with wear associated with age and use.
