About the Item

A pair of French Empire period Old Paris Porcelain vases, circa 1810, with painted landscapes and figural scenes on each side. The Classical amphora profile features a gold-banded mouth at the top, transitioning to the narrow neck and tapering body framed by a pair of handles with low-relief caryatid faces in place of the openings, lifted by square bases all accented in gold gilt trim. The landscape imagery–coordinating but not identical–is of a lush and tranquil environment in an earth tone palette. On the reverse side of each vase are a pair of figures, again that are unique but similar, locked in what appears to be a tense exchange. Please note one vase shows evidence of a previous repair, view the detailed images to see the condition. Sold as a pair.
