About the Item

The Funtime's cups is a series of unique footed bowls created by Japanese artist Tsuchida Yasuhiko on the island of Murano. This particular Funtime's cup is a mosaic of glass canes and pieces composes and fused together, then rolled up on the glass pipe and blown to it's final shape. It was made in 2000 when Tsuchida worked with the glass blowing team of his father in law in the Schiavon furnaces on Murano. It has an applied black stand and is signed and dated. It features an opaque lime green tessere of canes, including little murrine windows in transparent yellow glass, accompanied by opaque lattimo surroundings. The cup is acid polished, giving it a satin finish. There are some inclusions of ash, that are underlining the hand made character of the piece. Tsuchida's vita today is very impressive, which makes this early vessel even more interesting.
