DM / diameter max: 30cm ~ DM oben / diameter inner mouth: 17,5cm :-: in very good condition AA+ :-: This artwork has been produced by an alumnus of the renowned Keramikschule Landshut, a leading institution in the field of ceramic education. Historical Context: In 1836, the agricultural and trade school, which offered instruction in modelling and other disciplines, was inaugurated in the building that currently houses the Lower Bavarian government. In 1870, the first proposal for a pottery school was put forth by Mayor Dr. Gehring, Rector of the Trade School Sperl, and Master Potter F. Reither. On November 4th, 1873, the Royal Pottery School opened its doors with the support of Government President von Lipowsky. The student body comprised two journeymen, who were later joined by three additional journeymen and two apprentices. The teaching staff comprised the following individuals: The practical aspects of the curriculum were overseen by Franz Reither, while Friedrich Schenk was responsible for theoretical instruction. Adolf Böhm was in charge of financial matters. Subsequently, the following individuals were also involved: Anton Weinzierl In order to be eligible for admission to the school, applicants were required to have completed an apprenticeship. The pupils were required to reside in a boarding school. The lights were to be extinguished at 9 p.m., and journeymen were to remain in their rooms until 10 p.m. Visiting pubs was discouraged, as it was deemed incompatible with the standards of moral conduct expected of the students. "The awareness of belonging to the pottery school must imbue the young craftsman with a sense of pride and instill it in all of his actions." (Quote from: "Die Staatliche Fachschule für Keramik Landshut" by Gertrud Benker) The working day commenced at 6.00 a.m. and concluded at 6.00 p.m., with a two-hour interval for rest and recuperation. The primary product was tiled stoves. All available goods were sold. The remuneration for students was 69 Pfennig per diem. The trade school, situated within the government building, was the venue for the theoretical lessons, while the former premises of the Graf'sche factory on Bauhofstraße were allocated for the practical work. 10 October 1903 Name change: The institution was renamed the "Keramische Fachschule Landshut" (with the additional title of "Fachschule für Kunsttöpferei und Ofenbau"). It subsequently relocated to a new building. (Ober-)Realschule am Marienplatz (presently FOS). The curriculum comprised two years of preparatory schooling, two years of technical education and one year of advanced training for those pursuing a career as journeymen. The teaching staff comprised the following individuals: The teaching staff comprised Wilhelm Rudolph (Reallehrer) and seven subject teachers. On 30 January 1912, the pre-school examination was aligned with the journeyman's examination, and the examination of the technical school was aligned with the master craftsman's examination. In 1924, the school relocated to the preparatory school on Marienplatz (today KFL). Between 1930 and 1973, the school offered training for those wishing to become bricklayers. On 9 April 1941, the school became a master school for ceramics, a state vocational school and a vocational school. 46 Licence to reopen after the war 1983-1988 Reconstruction of the old brickmaking school 1983 Foundation of the "Friends and Sponsors of the Landshut Ceramic Technical Schools"
