About the Item
Contemporary American ceramic artist Giselle Hicks' glazed white stoneware vase is part of her Vessel Series. Each form is built by hand using a coil and pinch technique. They are formal explorations in shape, volume, color and composition. The mottled texture on the surface of each vessel are her fingerprints left from the pinched forming process which are then softened by the thick, opaque glaze applied to the surface. Acquired directly from the artist, this piece is signed on bottom. (Image 6 shows this vase along with Ref: LU863314878422 and Ref: LU863314878432, but this listing is for one vase only.)
About the artist:
Originally from California, Giselle Hicks received a BFA from Syracuse University and a MFA from NYSCC of Ceramics at Alfred University in New York. She has participated in various artist-in-residence programs including the Anderson Ranch Art Center, the Arts/Industry Program at the Kohler Company, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, The Greenwich House Pottery and The Archie Bray Foundation. Giselle's work has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Belger Arts Center in Kansas City, The John Michael Kohler Art Center and The Bellevue Art Museum.
