About the Item

A beautiful Scandinavian Modern ceramic vase with amazing glaze. Designed by Eva Jancke-Björk for Bo Fajans, Sweden, 1940s. Great condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Makers marks on base of vase. Eva Jancke-Björk (1882–1981) was a pioneering figure in Swedish design, whose multifaceted career spanned ceramics, textiles, and graphic design. Educated at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, her work is celebrated for its innovation and aesthetic depth, contributing significantly to the development of early 20th-century Scandinavian design. Among her most notable contributions are her textile designs for the Swedish Pavilion at the 1925 Paris Exposition, which showcased her ability to blend traditional Swedish motifs with modernist sensibilities. Jancke-Björk's designs for the NK (Nordiska Kompaniet) department store's textile department further cemented her reputation, particularly her avant-garde fabric prints that harmoniously combined function with artistic expression.
