A decorative cylindrical vase from Søholm Keramik, Bornholm, with characteristic hand-painted leaf decoration and a warm colour palette, typical of the workshop’s production in the 1960s and 1970s.
Haico Nitzsche (born 1925 in Germany, died 2016) was a ceramicist and designer, trained in Germany before moving to Denmark in the early 1960s. He joined Søholm Keramik on Bornholm, where he created a number of popular series and decorations, often characterised by organic forms, graphic patterns and a warm colour palette. Nitzsche is today regarded as one of the key designers in Søholm’s post-war production.
