About the Item

This large Italian faience tulip vase is conceived in a three-tiered architectural form with a total of nineteen openings for the display of flowers, arranged as six openings on each tier and one central opening at the top. It rests on a circular molded pedestal base. The surface is decorated in a blue and white palette with animated figurative pastoral scenes and putti, executed in the Italian maiolica tradition, reflecting historic decorative practices of the 18th century. The pedestal base is enriched with a gadrooned frieze framed by stylized vegetal borders. The piece bears a hand-painted blue mark to the underside. Minor chips and small areas of wear are present, consistent with age and use. This tulip vase would integrate naturally into classical, European, and traditional interiors, as well as eclectic or contemporary spaces where a historic decorative object can serve as a focal point. It is particularly well suited to grand entry halls, formal living rooms, dining rooms, or library interiors.
