About the Item

Handblown in Italy in the 1990s, this studio glass vase is formed in a free organic shape, manipulated during the hot-working process to create a softly folded profile. The vivid red exterior is finished with a scavo-type surface—textured and lightly weathered to mimic archaeological patina—while the interior reveals a contrastingly smooth and luminous orange layer, visible at the rim. Though unsigned, the piece recalls the aesthetics of Seguso Vetri d’Arte during the early 1990s, particularly their experimental scavo finishes and asymmetrical forms. The base retains its unpolished pontil mark, further affirming its studio-blown origins. Measuring approximately 25 cm in height, with a width of 28 cm and depth of 12 cm, the vase remains in very good condition with only minor surface irregularities expected from its handmade nature. A quietly sculptural example of Italian studio glass, merging bold colour with nuanced surface treatment.
