Italian art deco fluted tray in bronze. An statement decorative piece made in Milan, Italy after the war, circa 1950. This Italian-deco tray was crafted with scalloped fluted patterns in solid polished bronze, with two discrete handles at the sides Measures: 13 by 8.75 by 2.5 inches (33 x 22.2 x 6.3 cm). Marks and Signatures: Stamped with the maker's mark and signed, "S/E MADE IN ITALY". Industrial Movement In Italy During the second world war a big part of the Italian construction legacy had been destroyed, so it was important to find new ideas to reconstruct the country: This was an interesting challenge for designers and architects who were called to renew Italian dwelling places in a technical and functional way. In the 1950’s, Italian design took a crucial turn from the technical, formal and artistic point of view. these projects were known to be very competitive, striving for innovation and creativity. In 1950’s industrial objects became a symbol of this new renaissance period; Italy suddenly found out that modernity means welfare, comfort and a best type quality of life. A long series of new projects confirmed this research in terms of functionality and elegance. the research was applied to every day objects, from sewing machines, portable fans, motorcycle goggles, to unusual designs such as slanted soup plates. Some important names of the period to mention are Franco Albini, Ignazio Gardella, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Vico Magistretti, Ettore Sottsass, Marco Zanuso, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and the BBPR group (Banfi, Belgiojoso, Peressutti and Rogers). Note: This is very similar to the pieces designed by Fontana-Arte. Note: This very elegant decorative piece is in great condition with no dents or bumps and the bronze has no black spots or stains. Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to any part.
