Japanese Antique Pottery Large Jar/1610-1680/Edo Period/Wabisabi Tsubo/Tokoname

About the Item

This is a pottery called Tokoname ware. It is a kiln with a very long history in Japan. Tokoname is a kiln located in Aichi prefecture, Japan. (Tokoname Kiln is marked with a red circle on the map of Japan.) Pottery has been made in this area since BC, and a kiln was built around the 5th century. Also, in Japan, there are 6 historic kilns that are still in operation. One of them. This Jar was made in the early Edo period (around the 17th century). The shape of the jar, its color, and the natural taste are different one by one. This item is drenched in ash and has a flowing natural whitish glaze. It has a beautiful color. In addition, every 360° surface has a color gradation and is very beautiful. Its slightly distorted shape is interesting and perfect for interior decoration. Also, it stands on its own. There is a little chipping around the mouth, but this is common. There are no major cracks or cracks. It is also a very old item. If you put water in this, it will soak from the bottom, so when decorating flowers, put water in another container and put it in that pot. Highly recommended item! Weight: 19.3kg.
