About the Item
Extraordinary museum-quality Japanese contemporary decorative porcelain vase, extremely intricately hand painted in blue, red and yellow on a stunningly shaped ovoid body, a signed masterpiece by widely respected award-winning master porcelain artist in the Imari-Arita region of Japan.
This artist is the recipient of numerous awards for his exceptional porcelain work and his unique signature patterns. He is admired for his extremely intricate hand-painting and the use of raised "drip painting" technique enameling in the depiction of floral designs and geometric patterns that brings flowers to life. His profile is available upon request.
This auspicious stylized wisteria motif is also a great example of the artist's extraordinary mastery in creating his signature patterns that are so beloved and sought after.
Wisteria (Fuji) has a significant place in Japanese culture and is a very popular theme in Japanese art and poetry. The whole story of a famous Kabuki dance moves around wisteria, as a symbol of love. It is also the symbol of longevityand nobility, and many Japanese have chosen wisteria as their family crest.
The artist's signature stylized wisteria flowers are represented in blue, yellow and red. Green leaves climb to the top of the vase, reaching the neck that is decorated with an intricate pattern in gold and blue. The auspicious wisteria motif is repeated on the reverse side of the vase where it stunningy surrounds and embellishes the artist’s signature.
The neck and rim are decorated with extremely intricate geometric patterns in gold on dark blue. The reverse side of the vase is uniquely adorned with the same wisteria pattern as the body, covering the center, with the artist's signature appearing next to it.
This mesmerizing porcelain vase comes in a custom-made wooden case signed by the artist.
