Extraordinary large Japanese contemporary museum-quality decorative porcelain charger in blue underglaze, extremely intricately hand painted, a stunning masterpiece by widely acclaimed award-winning master porcelain artist of the Imari-Arita region of Japan. The traditional auspicious “quail and millet” motif symbolizing bountiful harvest and marital bliss has been a recurring theme in Imari Porcelain through the centuries. In this artist's rendition, the ears of millet are made fuller and heavier to create a canopy that bows deeply over the nesting quails. This outdtanding charger invites the viewer to approach to explore and enjoy the stunning details of this mesmerizing piece. This artist has perfected the polychrome overglaze technique to create highly textured porcelain pieces with stunning colors. Yet he explains that it is his monochrome cobalt underglaze creations that are the most challenging and demand the highest level of concentration. The artist's profile is available upon request.
