About the Item
A beautiful Japanese green art glass vase by Kuniaki Kuroki. Signed by the artist on the base. Heisei period. 1990's.
One of Japan’s leading glass artists and pioneers. Kuroki is the recipient of numerous Japanese and international awards, and has exhibited his work throughout the world. His work continues to fascinate people at home and abroad, expressing natural beauty and traditional Japanese aesthetics found in paintings and other classical works of art.
The vase is a primarily a wonderful, lustrous dark green and decorated in gold leaf highlights. Kuroki focuses on using Japanese aesthetics from the Rimpa movement in his glass, as shown here with the colours inlaid in the gold band.
In very good condition, with no damage.

Bronze vase by Nakajima Yasumi II (1905-1986), Showa period, Circa 1960-70.
Patinated dark reddish brown, the vase has a slender waisted shape. The base cast with a seal-style signature, along with the inscribed Tomobako (Paulownia) wood storage box.
In good condition, the vase shows some rubbing with handling and there is a small area of very minor marks. Please refer to the last photograph. The storage box is in very good condition.
Born in Osaka, the eldest son of the well-known metal artist Nakajima Yasumi I, Yasumi II graduated from the Sendai National Crafting Academy in 1932.
In 1933 he exhibited for the first time at the Export Crafts Exhibition, and went on to show his work several times outside Japan at the Grande Salon de Paris...
