About the Item

This is an antique pottery made during the Muromachi period, which is older than the Edo period in Japan. The Muromachi period was from the 14th to 16th centuries. This vase was made during the same period, and is a type of pottery called Tokoname Ware. Tokoname is a kiln located in Aichi prefecture, Japan. (Tokoname Kiln is marked with a red circle on the map.) It is said to have originated around the 12th century. Also, in Japan, there are 6 kilns with a long history that are still going on. It is one of them. It was fired at a kiln temperature of about 1,300 degrees, and is hard and baked. This vase was born after being fired over dozens of days using a large amount of firewood It is an item that was made with great care by people at that time. Also, as a reference, a similar item from the same period as this item was listed in the Japanese art book "Tokoname Ware Masterpieces Illustrated Guide," so I have attached a photo of it. And the expression of this vase is very beautiful. Its expression varies depending on the fuel used in the kiln. This is probably because a lot of straw was put in towards the end of the firing process, and the ashes from the straw fell on this vase and melted, creating this beautiful natural glaze. Not all vase will be like this. Depending on where you place the vase, the ashes may not fall on it. This is artistically beautiful. And the slightly irregular shape of the vase is also attractive. It looks cool from any angle. There is also a crack in one place. There is a thin crack in the place marked with a red circle in the ninth image. However, it stops halfway, so unless you knock it over, the vase will not break from there. We will pack it carefully and safely. Please rest assured. Also, since it is a very old vase, if you pour water directly into it, the water may leak out, so if you want to decorate it with flowers, fill another container with water and place it in this vase.
