About the Item

It is a very old jar in Japan. This is a pottery called Tokoname ware. Tokoname is a kiln located in Aichi prefecture, Japan.(Tokoname Kiln is marked with a red circle on the map.) It is said to have originated around the 12th century. Also, in Japan, there are 6 kilns with a long history that are still going on. It is one of them. And this one was fired around the 12th century. Since it was an excavated item, it has been restored by fixing it with adhesive. A 30 cm tall pot like this has a fixed shape, with a long neck, bulging shoulders, and a slightly elongated shape that tapers toward the bottom. It's a beautifully balanced shape. In addition, since a similar product was published in the art book, the photograph is posted as a reference material. It is the presence of natural glaze that changes the shape. As the natural glaze falls, it changes into various scenery. This pot has a partly bluish natural glaze and is very beautiful. On the other side, where the natural glaze is not applied, you can enjoy a different atmosphere, such as gray or reddish. There are pieces of pottery sticking together, but I think this is probably due to contact with the pot next to it when it was fired in the kiln. Also, there is a part where small lumps are stuck, but this is a lump of burnt ash stuck together. Among Tokoname ware, this 12th-century pottery is rare and extremely rare. Why don't you decorate it as one of the collections? It is a very attractive vase that makes you feel wabi-sabi. Note If you put water directly in this pot, it will leak, so when decorating flowers, put water in another container and put it in this. Weight: 2.8kg
