About the Item

Product description This ceramic vase was made by Joke Stroes, a Dutch ceramicist working for Mobach (Utrecht) in after 1966. In the beginning of her career Joke worked for Westraven as well as the lesser known HAWECO studio in Zeist. The piece reflects the characteristic Mobach studio aesthetic: solid, balanced form combined with expressive, kiln-driven glazing. The vase has a compact, rounded body with a short cylindrical neck. It is finished in a soft grey glaze with rich brown iron-oxide runs, creating vertical flow patterns. These glaze movements are kiln-related and intentional, aligning with Mobach's post-war emphasis on material honesty, gravity, and controlled chance. The base is signed, confirming Joke Stroes as the artist. Condition Very good condition. No cracks or restorations. The glaze shows natural flow variations inherent to the firing process.
