About the Item
This stunning large ‘beehive’ vase was designed by Dieter Peter in the 1970s, and manufactured by Carstens Tönnieshof in Freden an der Leine, West Germany. Carstens ‘Luxus’ range included this ‘Beehive’ 7641-40 vase with a striking glaze in yellow, brown and black beehive design.
Carstens are considered to have been the best producers of West German Pottery and Dieter Peters was, probably, the top designer of that era alongside Bodo Mans, who was working for Bay Keramik, another highly regarded West German manufacturer.
In perfect vintage condition, with no chips or cracks. Embossed on the base with Carstens Tönnieshof’s iconic ‘two house logo featuring the letters 'C' and 'T' combined with ‘7641-40 W. Germany’.
Measurements: 40cm H x 25cm diameter x 15cm base. Weighs over 3 kg.

A stunning three hooped ‘Pagoda Pot’ by Dorset potter Alan Ashpool, with a flared bowl to the top, tiered forms made from a mixture of thrown and slipcast sections joined together, culminating in a bell shaped base. Predominantly in an ecru colourway, followed by a dark grey glaze, then a turquoise/blue glaze, culminating in a stunning bronze manganese glaze. There are also beautiful blue flecks in the ecru finish, which were created in the firing process.
A wonderfully impressive and tactile piece measuring 40cm in height, in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Alan Ashpool backstamp to the base alongside the original address label.
