About the Item

A large floor vase with handle with a lovely green speckled glaze designed by Gunnar Nylund at Rörstrand, it´s 45 cm (18") high. It´s in excellent condition except from some minor marks and scratches in the glaze and marked as 1st quality. Gunnar Nylund was born in Paris 1904 with parents who worked as sculptors and designer so he really soon started hos own career as designer for the Danish brand Bing Grondahl where he worked until 1928. After that he together with Nathalie Krebs established the ceramics workshop Saxbo in Denmark. In 1931, Gunnar Nylund was then asked to start working for Rörstrand in Lidköping, Sweden. He worked there until 1955, most of the time as artistic director. After Gunnar Nylund Carl-Harry Stålhane became the artistic director for Rörstrand. Gunnar Nylund freelanced for Rörstrand for many years after 1955.
