About the Item

Large hand-made French ceramic jug in the Vallauris style, dating from around the 1950s–1960s. The piece has a full, rounded body that rises to a narrow neck with an integrated handle, giving it a strong sculptural profile. The glaze is characteristic of mid-century Vallauris production, with a high-gloss “lava” effect that flows from the neck over the body. Layers of red, brown, purple, and yellow-green create a dense, organic surface with visible drips and pooling. The interior is glazed, making the jug functional as a vase if desired. This jug reads as a ceramic sculpture and works well as a single statement piece on a console, plinth, or shelf. In good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
