About the Item

Large Art Nouveau enameled glass vase by Legras, France, 1890s. Made of hand-blown blue glass in the shape of a cylinder with a swirling finish on its outer face. Carefully hand-painted and gilded, and enameled with plant motifs of flowers and wild bramble blackberries. Manufactured at the end of the 19th century by François-Théodore Legras, Cristallerie de Saint-Denis, France. Totally Art Nouveau and Modernist style of the beginning of the Belle Époque. A piece on pair with other prestigious glass manufacturers of the time such as Baccarat and Val Saint Lambert. Measurements: Height: 35.5cm Bottom diameter: 17cm Top diameter 16cm Note: note that although it does not affect its beauty and exceptionality, it seems that at some point someone wanted to make a lamp with this piece by making a hole in it, which caused a transverse crack in its base without breaking it (see last photos). The hole has been sealed and a high-strength and waterproof resin has been applied to consolidate the piece. It does not affect its aesthetics or its decorative function. Loss of gilding in some areas (see photos).
