About the Item
A tall and elegant Austrian Viennese Art Nouveau porcelain vase hand painted with floral designs by Leonard and dating from around 1905. The vase is of tall narrow round shape with a wide skirted and molded lower body with an unglazed foot and slightly recessed glazed base. The vase tapers into a long narrow cylindrical form with a trumpet shaped top with a shaped and molded rim. The body of the vase is finely hand-painted with flowering poppy stems some with opening buds and others with seed heads. The vase is painted in tones of red, black, green, blue, white etc against a light-yellow green ground with darker greens applied around the foot. The top of the vase is applied with rich gilding incorporating fine scroll patterning with the gilding extending into the body of the vase. The vase has a green LEONARD VIENNA AUSTRIA makers stamp to the base.
Provenance: Acquired in the UK Art Market.
In good condition with light customary wear and aging to the gilded application, although minimal.
