About the Item

A lovely vase designed by Ilse Claesson in the 1930s at Rörstrand, Sweden. It is 16 cm high and in very good condition except from some craquelure in the glaze because of the age. Ilse Claesson was an influential Swedish ceramic artist who played an important role at Bo Fajans during the early to mid-20th century. She worked at the factory from the 1920s and became one of its most distinctive designers. Claesson was known for her elegant forms, refined decorations, and inspiration from Art Deco and classical motifs. Her work often featured stylized figures, relief patterns, and carefully balanced proportions. By combining artistic craftsmanship with industrial ceramic production, she helped shape Bo Fajans’ artistic identity. Today, Ilse Claesson is regarded as a key figure in Swedish ceramic history and early modern design.
