About the Item

Here is an elegant and highly collectible French Art Deco vase designed byMarcel Guillard and produced for the prestigious Etling workshops in Paris, circa 1925–1935. The vase features a striking stepped, tapering form emblematic of the Art Deco movement, beautifully balanced between sculptural geometry and refined craftsmanship. The ceramic body is finished in a rich, subtly mottled glaze with earthy green and brown tones, animated by horizontal banding that emphasizes the architectural silhouette. The design is elevated by original sterling silver mounts (the sterling foot bears a hallmark), adding a refined metallic contrast and underscoring the luxury materials favored in Parisian decorative arts of the period. This vase is substantial--it weighs nine pounds and measures 15" high and 9" in diameter. It is in very good to excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or repairs and displays beautifully. The underside bears clear impressed marks including France and Éditions Etling Paris, confirming its origin and authenticity. A superb example of collaboration between ceramic artistry and high-end metalwork, this vase reflects the sophisticated aesthetic that made Guillard one of the most esteemed French designers of the Art Deco era. 1930s Napier Silver-Plate Cocktail Shaker Designed by Emil Schuelke
By Emil Schuelke
Located in Minneapolis, MN
Here is a hard-to-find modernist silver-plate cocktail shaker designer by Emil Schuelke in the mid-1930s and made by Napier Company of Meriden, Connecticut. The cone-shaped shaker consists of two pieces--the top can be used for measuring ingredients. This example is in good condition--there are no deep scratches or dents. There some silver losses on the body and top of the shaker and the inside strainer has loss as well. You can tell the shaker has been used--there is wear to the interior. We've included several photos which represent the condition well. But all in all, this shaker presents nicely and would make a great addition to any bar or cocktail shaker collection. From Wikipedia: "Napier silver designs from the first half of the 20th century are in museum collections including the Brooklyn Museum, Newark Museum and a substantial collection at the Dallas Museum of Art. Over the years, Napier silver has been featured in museum exhibitions, including Modernism in American Silver: 20th Century Design at the Smithsonian in Washington, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Wolfsonian in Miami Beach, the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis, TN (2005–07). Napier designs have also been included in two shows at the Brooklyn Museum, entitled 19th century Modern (2011–12; 2013–15). In November 2016-November 2017, the iconic Napier penguin cocktail shaker...
