About the Item
Rare 1950s Accolay Potters Two-Handled Vase – Africanist Design, Yellow Dominant Palette
A striking and rare two-handled ceramic vase by the famed Potiers d’Accolay, dating from the 1950s. This highly decorative piece features a vibrant yellow dominant glaze, enhanced by green and brown curvilinear motifs characteristic of the workshop’s Africanist inspirations.
Hand-crafted and beautifully proportioned, the vase displays the distinctive sculptural presence for which Accolay ceramics are sought after. It is signed on the underside and remains in very good vintage condition, with superb colors and glaze quality.
A standout decorative object — perfect on a console table, in an entryway, or as a statement piece in a living room.
---
Accolay ceramics had its golden age between 1945-1970 when four students of Alexandre Kostanda: André Boutaud, Slavik Palley, Louis Dangon and Raude set up their workshop in this small french village. Accolay is a joint signature combining the work of several potters they produced emblematic pieces of French ceramics.
