About the Item
Fantastic and futuristic mid century modern atomic age art glass vase handcrafted on the venetian island of Murano by Barbini. Dynamic form with a smoky grey colored body with applied wings in a piercing vibrant blue. Ideal for that mid century collector of rare and unusual objects. A true conversation piece and an exquisite example of the finest in murano art glass. This murano art glass vase retains all original labels and is in excellent condition.
Constructed during the mid-1960’s, Barbini’s furnace itself was a piece of art resembling a gothic cathedral more than a glass factory, lit through stained glass windows contrasting strong colors with light reflections. In time Alfredo Barbini introduced his son, Flavio, and his daughter, Oceania, to the art of glassmaking, leaving his whole legacy to them.
