About the Item

A striking silver-plated and enamel bowl/vase designed and handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico by renowned artisan Miguel Pineda. This vintage piece showcases Pineda’s signature approach to Mexican modernist metalwork—combining sculptural silver forms with vivid champlevé-style enamel inlay inspired by Mayan and Pre-Columbian iconography. The rounded vessel form is embellished with richly colored enamel figures, glyphs, and decorative motifs in hues of amber, jade green, turquoise, coral, black, and soft pink, all set against a textured silver-gilt background. A polished silver rim and footband add refined contrast while enhancing the reflective quality of the metal. The piece is fully signed "Miguel Pineda" on the lower band. Measurements Height: 4 in. (10.16 cm) Diameter: 5 in. (12.7 cm) Artist Background — Miguel Pineda Miguel Pineda is part of the distinguished tradition of Taxco silversmiths, a lineage that includes Los Castillo, Margot de Taxco, and Antonio Pineda (to whom he is often stylistically compared, though not directly related). Pineda is known for his bold enamel inlay work, frequently drawing inspiration from Aztec and Mayan cultural symbolism. His pieces are sought after by collectors for their craftsmanship, vibrant coloration, and sculptural presence. Condition Shows minor expected wear consistent with age; enamel colors remain vibrant and beautifully preserved. This is an exceptional example of mid-20th-century Taxco enamel artistry, perfect for collectors of Mexican silver, Pre-Columbian Revival design, or modernist decorative arts.
