About the Item

Monolith by Bravo Studio Monolith GGG1 Materials: Cobarbalita stone Dimensions: Ø 13 × 16 cm Monolithic objects in Cobarbalita stone This new series of objects developed by the Chilean design studio bravo! Continues with the logic of territorial design that characterizes, from some time to now, their work; local design and production, articulating productive methods, technologies and materials taken from Chilean geography. Each object present in the series is conceived from technical and formal experimentation, as in sculpture, beyond pursuing a practical or functional operation, these objects assume a plastic and emotional commitment that allows its use to be freely interpreted. In fact the series suggest a paradigm shift by changing and reducing the sculptural scale, commonly associated to architecture and public space, to a domestic and object level. Composed of more than 80 ditierent pieces, The Monolith Series were developed over a year, and conceived under the logic of the monolith, using a single rock that contains various minerals and components to give way to the final object. The research phase for this project focuses on raw material and the exploration in its physical-mechanical possibilities. In this case the material is Combarbalita, a rock originated from volcanic compositions, that has only been found in the Chilean territory and which integrates heterogeneous ammounts of kaolinite, natroalunite, silica and hemanite, in addition to some minerals represented in copper and silver oxides. Given the versatility in the natural composition of the stone, each piece designed varies in its veins, textures and colors, therefore, is completely unique and unrepeatable.

L Vase Designed by Virginia Frieyro for The Table Project, Spain, 2024
Located in Madrid, ES
This unique piece is part of The Table Project, a collaborative initiative developed in Spain in 2024. Originally designed by Isidro Blasco, the work has been reinterpreted by Virginia Frieyro, a visual artist whose practice lies at the intersection of expanded painting, installation, and spatial intervention. Her work stems from a formal investigation of color and gesture, often connected to architecture and bodily movement. In this intervention, Frieyro transforms the surface of the vase into an immersive pictorial support, applying glazes, stains, and chromatic gestures in a vibrant palette of pinks, blues, greens, and purples. The rhythmic and gestural composition resembles an abstract cartography, where color is layered and interwoven to create a sense of depth and motion. The result is a piece that transcends functionality, existing somewhere between sculpture and three-dimensional painting. About Virginia Frieyro Virginia Frieyro explores abstraction, color, and repetition, weaving vibrant compositions across surfaces. In her ceramic works, color becomes a kind of fabric or structure, inviting an emotional experience. She seeks to connect with the most intimate and sensitive aspects of perception—believing that it is in that precise moment where art truly happens. About The Table Project The Table Project is an initiative by artist Isidro Blasco. From his studio in the Carabanchel neighborhood of Madrid, a series of projects have been developed with the goal of creating distinctive artistic objects and fostering collaboration among local artists. Since 2019, The Table Project has promoted creative encounters grounded in Spain’s rich artisanal traditions, reimagined through a contemporary lens. The initiative has become a space where multidisciplinary artists come together to produce handcrafted works within the context of contemporary art. Launched by Blasco...
