About the Item
A striking and rare ceramic floor vase by renowned Polish-Canadian artist Marian Zawadzki, dated 1965 and signed M.Z. on the base. This sculptural piece is a powerful example of mid-century European studio pottery, featuring a deeply carved figural motif and rich, layered glazes in earthy green, ochre and brown tones.
The vase stands 56.5 cm high and has a diameter of 22 cm, making it a commanding decorative object for any interior. Its hand-carved relief depicts stylized human figures in motion, rendered with dynamic line work and a painterly surface texture that reflects Zawadzki’s background in graphic arts and mural painting.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of age-appropriate wear.
A true collector’s item from a significant figure in 20th-century ceramic art – equally compelling as a standalone sculpture or as part of a curated modernist display.
