About the Item
A small Murano faceted Sommerso vase by Luigi Mandruzzato, hand-crafted in Italy during the 1960s.
The vase is pentagonal in form, with five precisely cut exterior facets that emphasise the clarity and depth of the glasswork. Produced using the Sommerso (submerged) technique, vibrant layers of cranberry red and bright yellow glass are encased within clear Murano crystal, creating a striking internal colour contrast. The sharp, geometric exterior — characteristic of Mandruzzato's mid-century production — offers a dynamic interplay of colour, light, and form when viewed from different angles.
The vase retains its original silver Murano label affixed to the base. It measures 13.5 cm in height and 5 cm in diameter. Condition is very good overall, with three minuscule chips located on the faceted edges of the body, commensurate with age and use.
A fine example of mid-century Murano glass, blending bold colours with precise glass cutting.
