About the Item

Refined blown glass bowl with inclusion of lattimo filaments, in shades of red on clear glass, arranged irregularly to create an elegant decorative pattern. The effect of transparencies and color interlacing gives the work a contemporary character, while still respecting the tradition of Murano glass. Original label: C. Nason, Murano Carlo Nason was born in Murano in 1935 into a family of master glassmakers. From a young age he learned the art of glassmaking in the family furnace. In the 1950s he began creating glass vases and objects, which are now also displayed in museums such as the Corning Museum of Glass. Between 1965 and 1980 he worked mainly with A.V. Glassworks. Mazzega, designing lamps and objects that have become very famous. He later collaborated with other Murano companies, such as Vistosi, Moretti, Seguso and Leucos. His style is simple and modern: he loves clean shapes and opal glass that diffuses light in an elegant way. His works can be found in major museums such as the MoMA in New York. MURANO GLASS Murano glass is a type of art glass produced on the island of Murano, located in the Venice lagoon, Italy. This glass is renowned for its beauty, craftsmanship and centuries-old tradition. The distinctive features of Murano glass include: 1. Vibrant and rich colors: Murano glass is famous for its wide range of vibrant colors. Artisans use a variety of pigments to create rich and intense shades. 2. Handwork: Murano glass making is an art that requires skill and precision. Artisans follow traditional techniques passed down from generation to generation, often shaping glass by hand with specialized tools. 3. Murrine: Murrine are small sections of stained glass arranged in a specific pattern within a larger sheet. This technique is typical of Murano glass and can be used to create complex geometric designs or images. 4. Lampwork: Some Murano glass objects are created using the technique of "lampwork," which involves manipulating glass tubes heated over a flame to shape them into desired shapes. 5. Transparency and luminosity: Murano glass is known for its crystal clear transparency and ability to reflect light magnificently. This attribute contributes to its beauty and makes it ideal for creating jewelry, chandeliers and art objects.
