About the Item

Danish Mid-century ceramic vase from the "Marselis" series by Nils Thorsson (1898-1975) for Aluminia (later brandname Royal Copenhagen) in Copenhagen. Manufactured ca. 1950s. The pear shaped vase features a repeated tactile pattern of ovals and has a soft pale green glaze. The pale green glaze is more rare to find. The "Marselis" series was designed by Nils Thorsson in the early 1950s and was in production from 1953 to 1970. It consists of at least 24 different shapes and they each came in different colors. The vase is marked on bottom with the A with the 3 waves for Aluminia, Denmark, the cipher of Nils Thorsson and the model number Factory first edition. Very good vintage condition No chips, cracks or repairs. Overall fine age-related crazing which is normal for this kind of glaze. Minor irregularities in glaze from production.
