About the Item

Art glass vase from the Oriente Series, produced for Vetreria Aureliano Toso circa 1950. This refined example of postwar Murano glassmaking is distinguished by its organic, slightly asymmetrical form, featuring a softly rounded body that rises into a slender neck. The blown glass displays a rich polychrome composition, with flowing layers of blue, amber, yellow, and deep brown tones fused into a fluid, dynamic surface. One example features a striking spiral motif with aventurine effect, adding luminous depth and a strong decorative accent that evokes the Eastern influences from which the series takes its name. Each vase from the Oriente Series is unique in its color distribution and detailing, reflecting the high level of craftsmanship and formal experimentation that established Aureliano Toso as a leading figure in 20th-century Murano glass. Sculptural and highly collectible, this piece functions both as a decorative object and as an important testament to Italian design of the 1950s.
