About the Item

Pair of hand-blown art glass vases designed by Bertil Vallien for Boda (later Kosta Boda), Sweden, model 42703, produced in the late 1960s-1970s. Each vase features Vallien's characteristic square bottle form with a flared circular rim and a deep layered glaze effect in cobalt blue and smoky brown, giving an iridescent transition from transparent color to earthy opacity. Both vases are signed and numbered on the base. The two vases are a fine example of Vallien's early work before his later sand-cast sculptures, combining Scandinavian modern form with expressive glass chemistry. Sold as a pair. Dimensions: Vase 1 - Height 13.7 cm, top diameter 7.6 cm, base width 8 cm, weight 540 grams Vase 2 - Height 13.5 cm, top diameter 7.0 cm, base width 8 cm, weight 660 grams
