About the Item
This pair of Chinese Export porcelain vases, dating to the early 20th century, is finely hand-decorated in the Famille Rose palette, a celebrated colour tradition within Qing dynasty porcelain. Each spill vase features a vibrantly enamelled tableau: two symbolic Chinese pheasants poised among blooming pink peonies and lush foliage — motifs associated with prosperity and feminine beauty in Chinese decorative arts.
The flared necks are framed by ornate borders rendered in multi-coloured enamels against a gilt ground, a detail that speaks to the influence of imperial tastes. Characteristic of the Famille Rose technique, the palette is soft yet vivid, with fine brushwork and balanced coloration that enhances the porcelain’s surface.
Each vase measures 24 cm in height and 13 cm in diameter. Both remain in good condition, showing only minor wear appropriate to their age.
