About the Item
An Exceptional Pair of George I Tazzas Made in London in 1725 by William Darker.
The Tazzas stand on a trumpet shaped spreading foot and the circular top has a slightly raised rim decorated with reeded bands. The top displays one of the finest engraved Armorials we have ever seen contained in a feather edge and scroll circular cartouche. The Armorials display the associated Crest above and Motto, engraved on a banner, below. The top is very well marked and each foot is stamped with a sterling mark. It is most unusual to find pairs of Tazzas from this period and both are in excellent condition. William Darker was a fine maker who was apprentice to Richard Bailey. Darker had workshops in St. Martin's Lane when these were made.
