About the Item

This elegant pair of lidded vases showcases the artistry of Moustiers faience, produced by the renowned Lallier workshop in southern France. Signed Lallier à Moustiers on the base, they faithfully continue the centuries-old tradition of Provençal ceramics while reflecting the refinement of 20th century craftsmanship. Measuring approximately 42 cm in height and 21 cm in diameter, the vases adopt a graceful octagonal form topped with finely modeled lids. Their surfaces are richly hand-painted with delicate floral garlands, scrollwork, and stylized motifs in soft shades of green, yellow, and blue. Each side presents a central medallion with detailed mythological and pastoral scenes: figures in classical attire, animals, landscapes, and allegorical compositions that recall the grandeur of 18th-century faience decoration. While inspired by the historic patterns of Moustiers from the 1700s, these vases were executed in the mid-20th century, combining fidelity to tradition with the vividness of modern production. The signature Lallier à Moustiers confirms their authenticity and origin from one of the most respected names in the revival of French faience.
