About the Item
A antique pair of Japanese cloisonne enamel Meiji period vases. Each vase has a trumpet shaped body, a wide fluted neck, and a fluted base. The vases are adorned with polychrome enamel medallions depicting cranes and dragons surrounded by floral, foliage and swirl motifs made in the Cloisonne technique. The necks and the bases are decorated with foliage and geometrical patterns made in the same technique. The bodies are adorned with convex accents representing floral and butterfly medallions surrounded by floral and foliate scroll patterns. The grounds are inlaid with Gold stones.
