About the Item

Pair of porcelain krater vases with gilded ground in classical form. The bodies are painted in vibrant colors: one with fruits such as pineapple, grapes, and apples; the other with exotic flowers, most notably a striking Strelitzia. Both vases are in very good condition. Literature: E. Köllmann / M. Jarchow, Berliner Porzellan, Munich 1987, vol. 1, dust jacket; vol. 2, p. 582, fig. 546. Note: The depiction of the Strelitzia on the floral vase is likely a symbolic reference to Queen Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1776–1810).
