Impressive pair of Roman terracotta amphorae dating from the 3rd to 1st century BC, mounted on custom iron bases.
These amphorae were traditionally used to store salted fish and other preserved foods, a practice common throughout the Mediterranean world.
Both pieces are in good condition, showing natural aging consistent with their period and material.
Provenance: Private collection C.S., Spain, acquired in the 1960s.
