A mid-century smoked glass bud vase by Arthur Percy for Gullaskruf Glasbruk, Sweden, circa 1950s–60s. This modernist solifleur vase is crafted in warm brown glass with a soft translucence, featuring a spherical base and elongated tapering neck—an elegant study in proportion and restraint typical of Scandinavian glass design from the period. Arthur Percy, a pivotal figure in 20th-century Swedish decorative arts, served as artistic director of Gullaskruf from 1952 and brought a refined, architectural sensibility to the glassworks’ production. His solifleur vases, such as this example, were designed not only to function as stem vases but also to sit sculpturally within minimalist interiors—characteristic of the era’s design ethos.
