Antique Blue and White Lidded Vases from Savona, Italy, Circa 1800
Located in Dallas, TX
During the 17th through 19th centuries, highly skilled artisans in Savona, Italy, produced beautiful tin-glazed earthenware known as maiolica (majolica). These blue and white lidded vases with serpentine handles, from circa 1800, are such an example. Early Savona offerings were painted cobalt blue on a white background, as seen on these vases. Because the scenes depicted on the main bodies are distinct, they are considered a near pair, although their dimensions do not vary. Both illustrations contain country houses surrounded by tall trees and fronted by vegetation emerging from rocky terrain. In each scene, people can be seen in front of the houses, with one having two citizens and the other having four. One of the renderings is bordered by roundels at the top and by a leafy vine at the bottom; the other vase does not have any surrounding motifs. The sides opposite the pastoral images are distinct as well: the one with the borders has curled vines surrounding the Savona Lighthouse (a production mark of studios from this region), while the other vase has the lighthouse above a pair of small foliate margents. Both vases have domed, removable lids with a conical finial emerging from a painted sunburst. Curled leaves have been painted along the circumference above a solid blue ring. The two curvaceous handles are each comprised of a pair of snakes bound with a ribbon. Our blue and white lidded Savona vases...

Pair of Important Russian Gilt Bronze and Metal Vases
Located in London, GB
Pair of important Russian gilt bronze and metal vases Russian, circa 1820 Dimensions: Height 98cm, width 43cm, depth 38cm This monumental pair of vases are exquisitely crafted in gilt bronze and metal. They both feature twin scrolled handles, which are decorated with leaves and foliate patterns, as well as classical profiles at the top. These touch the ormolu rims, which feature an egg and dart pattern. The body of each vase is of ovoid form and features further ormolu mounts, including a thick band underneath the waisted neck, twin dog heads at the base of the handles, flowers, stars and more Classical masks with foliate scrolls. The vases are supported by square plinths, with socle form bases and decorations of fluted ribbing and scrolled foliate forms. Heavily inspired by the neoclassical style, which was popular in Russia in the late 18th and 19th centuries, the vases are decorated with gilt bronze relief scenes which allude to motifs in classical mythology. On a rich burgundy ground, the metal body of the vases show figures flanked by palm trees. One vase shows a woman dressed in a classical draped fabric garment playing two flutes and leaning on a pedestal with twirling ivy, while a baby stands...

Coalport Pair of Floral Gilded Sauce Tureens, Marquess of Anglesey, circa 1820
Located in London, GB
This is an extremely rare set of lidded sauce tureens made by Coalport in circa 1820. The tureens are decorated in the "Marquess of Anglesey" pattern. These sauce tureens would have formed part of a large dessert service. They were used for the sauce to be served on ice cream or a cooked sweet dish, and the lids have holes for the sauce ladles. Coalport was one of the leading potters in 19th and 20th century, coming out with many innovative designs. The pottery emerged around the year 1800 in Shropshire, right on the edge of Staffordshire and near other great makers such as Spode, Minton, Davenport and many others. They went on to become a major potter in the 19th century and brought out many iconic designs. The Welsh Nantgarw factory first created the heavily gilded service for the Marquess of Anglesey, with beautifully painted flowers. Later the Swansea factory made additions to or copies of this service, and circa 1820 Coalport...

Pair of Chinese Export Porcelain American* Market Landscape Vases Covers
Located in West Palm Beach, FL
Pair of Chinese Export Porcelain American* Market Landscape Vases & Covers China, Circa 1800 * American/ European Market, considered to the Chinese to be the same market, by many. it's been suggested the front and back vignettes of houses in landscape on this model, were painted from a European print the Chinese porcelain workshops acquired. A extraordinary find, a pair of Chinese Export Porcelain American/ European Market painted in sepia, colors and gilt vases & covers, with twelve (12) placed American/ European and Chinese motif vignettes. Each vase complete with its original cover/ lid with gilt recumbent foo-dog, with two front and back oval vignettes of a Chinese tree in landscape. Each of the baluster vases, exquisitely hand-painted front and back with a similar American/ European topographical view of country houses with trees landscape. (The Chinese porcelain workshops probably copied these scenes from a European print) Surrounded by an elaborate painted and enameled trellis with vines and leaves. Some traces worn, additional gilt decoration is evident. Both sides of the vases are decorated with an upper elongated cartouche painted...
