Pr. Viennese Enamel on Silver Vases with Mythological Scenes Signed Hallmarks HB

About the Item

A beautifully pair of Viennese poly-chrome enamel on silver vases with mythological scenes and signed hallmarks: HB. There are a total of twelve panels, six on each vase, and each panel is exquisitely hand painted in multicolored poly-chrome enamel with variable mythological scenes. The first main panel depicts a mother and father, who is kneeling, teaching their two sons about the law of the land, while their baby is playing near them on the floor. The back of that panel depicts three maiden, a centaur, man, baby, and goats sitting with each other, while the baby plays with the goats and the maidens watch. The first smaller panel on the base of the vase depicts three mermaids playing with dolphins, while the other panel on the base depicts two soldiers fighting over a fair maiden. The two smaller upper panels depict children playing in the woods together and a woman playing a guitar with her husband and son. On the primary panel of the second vase a maiden is found sitting in a meadow with putti frolicking around, playing with sheep, the maiden and picking fruit. Opposite to that panel depicts a solider holding a maiden up on a boat traveling back from sea. The first smaller panel at the base of this vase depicts a queen and her attendant fetching her water from the near-by spring, while the other panel depicts a king and queen sitting with one another, while putti provide them with fruit and wine. The upper portion panels of this vase depict a maiden breast feeding while a putti is giving her a branch and two lovers seating and speaking about themselves on a balcony. Each vase is silver and marked, with beautiful enamel decor found through the handles, top, and base. The handles are figural maidens heads with white, multi-hue blue, red, and green enamel decoration. Austria, circa 1870, fabulous quality and condition.
