About the Item

We are very proud to be able to present and offer this exceptional, stunning shades of grey and white striped bowl by German ceramic artist Rainer Doss (1941-2007). This piece is from 1981 and was formed using the Nerikomi technique (練り込み) - is a Japanese term describing an artistic technique where multiple different colours of clay are combined and often marbled to create interesting layered or patterned designs - sometimes having a similar style to the murrine canes of millefiori glass work seen in high quality vessels of Venetian Murano glass. The different colours of anthracite black, milk white, light taupe / grey clay are layered and pressed together to form very natural looking lines, shapes and forms. Absolutely stunning piece of art which can still be used as a functional, decorative piece or simply admired for being an exceptional piece of work. Dimensions are: Height - 7.7cm Diameter - 15.3cm This would fit into any home - vintage Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern, Hollywood Regency, Edwardian, Victorian, Georgian period property, Minimalist or, of course, Contemporary home.
