Antique Awaji pottery Arts and Crafts incised iris vase with rare blue background. Circa 1920. Hand turned with hand incised decor. Irises depicted on front and back. In Japanese culture, the iris symbolizes strength, fortitude, and purity. Irises are also considered elegant and are featured in art and literature, representing purification and sophistication. 8 1/2" high, 5 1/2" diameter. Excellent condition.
