About the Item

Here is a wonderful and rare art deco globe vase made by the famed French ceramist Robert Lallemant (1902-1954). This spherical vase represents the globe with depiction of various continents, ships and scenes from around the world. The vase is signed and marked FRANCE on the underside. This example is in very good condition with wear and minor discoloration consistent with age and use. There is one small glaze flake on the rip which is shown in the photos, which could easily be repaired if so desired. But these minor flaws are only mentioned for complete transparency and by no means detract from the overall presentation of this exceptional vase. About Robert Lallemant: After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Dijon, under the guidance of Ovide Yencesse, Lallemant went to work at Lachenal from 1921 to 1922 in order to learn and improve his art as a ceramist. The next year he purchased a small workshop at at 5 Passage d'Orleans in the 13th district of Paris, which he later moved to Quai d'Auteuil.
