About the Item

Regency Opulence: Spode Porcelain Garniture of Three Vases Circa 1805–1810 A fine and rare Regency-period porcelain garniture of three vases produced by the Spode factory (Circa 1805–1810). The set consists of a taller central campana vase and two flanking vases, all showcasing the factory's early mastery of rich color and gilding. Each vase is decorated with a vibrant, burnished gold ground that contrasts beautifully with wide, reserved panels. These panels are exquisitely hand-painted with abundant clusters of fruit and flowers, demonstrating the high standard of botanical painting achieved at Spode during this era. The rims and splayed feet are further enhanced with crisp gilt beading. Markings: Pattern Number: The central vase is marked in iron-red with Pattern 711. Condition: Excellent antique condition. The complex gilding and gold ground remain largely intact and bright. Hand-painted enamels are vivid. No chips, cracks, or restoration. Measurements: Central Vase: Height (Central Campana): 4 5/8 inches (11.7 cm) Diameter (Base): 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm) Historical Context: Such garnitures, intended to decorate mantelpieces or cabinet tops, were highly fashionable during the Regency era. The use of an expensive gold ground (often called 'Gold Band' or 'Massive Gold') on Pattern 711 elevates this service to Spode's premium production class, intended for the era's wealthiest clientele. Provenance: Roderick Jellicoe, London (two paper labels).
