About the Item

A signed striking hand-painted art glass vase from Ulrica Hydman-Vallien’s celebrated Ribbon series for Kosta Boda, produced circa 1998. This piece showcases Hydman-Vallien’s unmistakable artistic language—bold, expressive, and instantly recognizable. The vase features a frosted white ground adorned with yellow ribbons, accented by a contrasting green and black band encircling the narrow waist. Every brushstroke is applied by hand, giving the vase its vibrant, sculptural presence. It is signed on the underside “Kosta Boda Artist Coll Ulrica HV 49801” and also bears Ulrica's hand-painted signature near the base beneath the original Kosta Boda label. A beautiful example of Hydman-Vallien’s work during this period, the vase remains in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks—an exceptional collector’s piece from one of Sweden’s most beloved glass artists. Measurements: Height: 19 cm (approx. 7.48") Diameter: 11 cm (approx. 4.33"), with the original label. The price includes free shipping. Kosta Boda Glasbruk  Founded in 1742 Kosta Boda's early production focused on?window?glass,?chandeliers?and drinking?glasses. From the 1840s, the factory was at the forefront of new trends and technical developments, producing?pressed glass, and in the 1880s setting up a new glass-cutting workshop. The factory is situated in what is known as the Chrystal Kingdom region in Sweden. In 1903, the company merged with the?Reijmyre?glasbruk (glassworks) but both retained their own names and Kosta went on to maintain its reputation as one of the leading Swedish manufacturers with a range of fine?art glass?and?tableware?by distinguished designers such as?Vicke Lindstrand, artistic director from 1950-1973. With Vicke Lindstrand in charge of the modern art glass production, the company became one of the leading companies when it comes to modern art glass and interior design object in the 1960s and 70s following Vicke Lindström’s legacy in connection to Scandinavian design, often focusing on vases as well as other modern glass objects. Lots of their goods is today still seen as modern and retro classics. The company employed some of the leading designers of its time such as Mona Morales, Monica Backström, Göran Wärff and Bertil Wallien.
